No, if you already have one then these are washable and resuable mats that can be used time and again.
Equally, if you don't have a mat, you could try using foil or cling film. However, the mat isn't just a traditional tool, it makes it a lot easier to roll too!
Just add your choice of vegetables and/or meat and top with soy sauce for great tasting sushi at home.
